Feel free to ask our staff any questions about our veteran services. The Veterans Empowerment Organization of Georgia, Inc., is a nonprofit organization who only wants to help homeless veterans find a place where they can get back on their feet.
How Much of My Money Will Actually Go to Serve Homeless Veterans in Need?
Essentially, all of the money you donate goes directly to the Veterans Empowerment Organization of Georgia, Inc. is a state-certified, legally recognized nonprofit foundation dedicated to serving veterans in need. We take pride in the fact that 100% of every dollar pledged to us provides for day-to-day operations, or to VEO project. We work to be nationally recognized for our success.
I've Never Been Helped by an Agency. Why Should I Contribute?
Veterans have made painful sacrifices to defend our freedoms and way of life, so we believe it is right and proper to continue to honor them for their services. They were there for us when we needed them to defend our country, so now it is time for their country to be there for them.
Why Do Some Agencies Charge Fees for Their Services?
Our organization operates without profit and discrimination. We do not charge fees. No veterans coming to the program pay any service charges or application fees. Veterans who are already receiving benefits will pay for our housing program on a sliding scale, but they pay no more than 30% of their income for housing.
I Support a Favorite Charity of My Own. Why Give to Your Organization?
Everyone has their favorite charities, but the problem of homelessness among veterans in this Country is widespread and growing. We offer a wide range of programs and services to meet the diverse needs of this disadvantaged group.
Aren't There Already Shelters for These People?
There are some shelters, but they have limited capacity and are often crowded. Most shelters are in downtown Atlanta, where the homeless are underserved. The rural homeless often have nowhere to go at all. Those who find shelter space in Atlanta or elsewhere are allowed to stay only for 30 days or less. At our organization, we focus specifically on providing homeless veterans with safe transitional housing support until we are able to get them into permanent housing.
Why Just in Georgia?
Our agency is currently restricted to Georgia, specifically the Atlanta area, but we plan to extend our services to rural areas of the state as soon as possible. Our plan is ultimately to expand our operations and go nationwide so that we can serve homeless veterans everywhere in the United States.
