Our mission is to provide humanitarian services to returned military veterans who are neglected, hungry, and/or homeless in Georgia. VEO is designed to provide a wide range of services, including food, shelter,  housing, rehabilitation, counseling, and referral to veterans organizations such as the Veterans Administration (VA), the Veterans Administration Special Housing (VASH) unit, Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV), and Health Care for re-Entry Veterans (HCRV).

What you can do

Any contribution you can make will help us to alleviate the problem. Remember, we are dealing with those who have nothing – here even a little goes a long way. For less than $1 per day, you can help a returned veteran recover from the disaster of homelessness, someone who served in the military with honor and probably suffers from the aftereffects of traumatic stress and at least partially disabling war wounds. As a “Friend of Veterans” and Veterans Circle member, your gift will go toward breaking someone’s “free fall” and ultimately toward supplying whatever resources are necessary for full recovery of both mind and body, enabling that person to again become a productive member of Society. Another way to look at it is that your contribution will cover a small but important part of the cost of helping

 many homeless veterans recover.

  • Associate Level: $25 a month will... help provide food and shelter for up to 15 homeless veterans.

  •  Friend Level: $50 a month will... provide food and shelter for 30 homeless veterans.

  • Supporter Level: $75 a month will.... provide food and shelter for 45 homeless veterans.

  • Partner Level: $100 a month will... provide food and shelter for 60 homeless veterans.

  • Sponsor Level: $125 a month will... provide food and shelter for 75 homeless veterans.

Membership in VEO is easier than you think . . . and it’s safe!

Once you decide to become a member and wish to give, you may either contact us by e-mail, or use our website that is securely linked (https) for financial transactions. This assures that any and all information exchanged with us is completely confidential and thus unable to be viewed by anyone else on the web. Then automatically each month, the amount you choose to pledge will be deducted from the account you designate and will appear on your monthly financial statement. In the event that your account has insufficient funds to cover your pledge, we will notify you by letter that no transfer of funds occurred. If you wish to change the amount of your monthly pledge or withdraw your membership, simply let us know in writing and we will make the necessary adjustments with no questions asked.

Within 12 months, after joining, we will send you confirmation of your status as a member of The Veterans Empowerment Organization, an official membership certificate that specifies the Level (e.g., Associate) that you have chosen, and a stylish VEO T-shirt that expresses the solidarity of our organization and the pride of our members.

What are the Real Rewards of Membership?

As with everything else in life, it is the intangible rewards that rank the highest. It is not simply the there are people out there who need our help and who are where they are often through no fault of their own. The desperate condition of so many of the people on our streets, including thousands of returned veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, reflects the condition of our Society as a whole, All of Us. By helping them, we also help our Society and thus – indirectly – ourselves. If we see ourselves truly, we will know that in the agonized faces of the poor and homeless we see a neglected aspect of our Society and thus of ourselves. In the end, it is simply a matter of doing what is Right. If enough of us pitch in and help to solve this problem, even if we as individuals can give only a little, we can solve this problem. It is not a matter of throwing money at anything, but of bringing Love, compassion, and human decency to bear, to whatever extent we are capable.

At the same time, we at Veterans Empowerment Organization know that the solution to this problem also requires dedication and hard work. We are realists who are trained and experienced in this line of work, we know the ropes and we are in it for the stretch. We know that the great force behind us is the many contributors whose support makes our work possible, people like yourself who are willing to give what you can to right the wrongs and redress the problems that we see in our world. But we also know that there must be some objective measure of the success of our work. Therefore, as a tangible yardstick of progress, beginning in 2009 we will issue annual reports to all our members - including information on how and where funds have been spent, data concerning our impact on the problem in the Atlanta area in particular, and success stories which show the paths followed by veterans in their progress from homelessness to – at last – home. With your help, VEO’s envisioned site and apartment-units can be rehabilitated and brought up to the City Code standard. A place in Georgia, were you and I know these returned military veterans who are neglected, hungry, and/or homeless can call their own. Upon the completion of the building, you will simply call us to schedule a tour with a VEO representative.

We earnestly hope that you will be part of the success story of The Veterans Empowerment Organization of Georgia, Inc.....Thank you and continue to be blessed.
